A city-led group looking to tackle blight and illegal dumping got unanimous support for its recommendations earlier this week from the Memphis City Council.

The working group, chaired by Councilwoman Rhonda Logan, has met monthly since last summer to draft guidance for the city on used tires, solid waste, beautification, Environmental Court, and community outreach.

 The City Council’s support of the group’s list of more than a dozen recommendations is the first step toward enacting the changes, but most of the individual items will require funding proposals and additional approvals by the council.
