Rhonda Logan kept ‘faith’ in pursuit of City Council seat

Keeping faith was key for Rhonda Logan as she completed her year-long journey to the District 1 Memphis City Council seat.

That journey included one marathon City Council meeting when the council repeatedly voted against her appointment to the seat, and a near victory in the Oct. 3 election before she was able to gain the seat in the Nov. 14 runoff election.

“It’s surreal. It’s exciting,” Logan said. “I’m really happy that we’re here and grateful that we’re here, and look forward to moving (the city) forward.”

Logan and District 7 councilwoman-elect Michalyn Easter-Thomas both won their November runoff elections, defeating incumbents Sherman Greer and Berlin Boyd, respectively.
